Before the popular festival of Mons called “Lumeçon” takes place, we open the gates of the “Machine à Eau” and invest the esplanade of the boulevard Dolez to get our hearts and minds ready for this great event in Mons.
We have planned a special day on the theme of the myth of the dragon. This animal of fantasy calls quite a few fairytales to mind. This treasure keeper bears the four elements; air, water, earth and fire, and also has the ability to travel through them. The dragon conveys antagonistic forces and represents the power of dreams that still haunts our nights and the ones of our children.
So, on the tenth of May, we will celebrate with dance, music, theater, circus and martial arts all day long from dawn to night.
Like the four elements, like the four age groups in life, this day is split in four periods of time: In the morning, adult tai chi classes, in the afternoon drawing and dance beginner classes for children and capoiera and hip hop lessons for teenagers, in the evening the closing party.
Ten or so artists will offer classes, performances, artistic adventures that will awaken our senses. We will then go in search of the dragon that lies in each of us…
The “Machine à Eau” will be open from morning to evening to visitors of any age who will travel from the building to the esplanade facing it. On their way, exhibitions, activities, performances and so on, to celebrate the dragon through all his metamorphosis.
A special day to introduce the coming of the Doudou with triumph and joy.
