This work is inspired by the imaginary worlds of Nicolas Roerich and Igor Stravinsky that went into the making of Stavinsky’s Rites of Spring: adolescents celebrate the arrival of spring with dances and games. They dance in mysterious circles to designate the Chosen One who will sacrifice herself by dancing a frenetic dance until total exhaustion and death.
Le Sacre-O Sacrificio handles the residues of the sacred in our time in an analogous manner. It echoes contemporary rituals such as rave parties, which constitute a sort of arena for giving off steam, for giving way to excesses, for transgressing the boundaries of our modern Western societies.
